Wol Maiwen's life began amidst the brutal civil war in South Sudan. Seeking refuge, Wol and his family fled to Egypt before eventually settling in the state of Maine, USA. Their choice of this particular location was driven by its tranquility. After enduring so much, Wol's parents longed for peace, and they believed that New England offered the serenity they craved. In a predominantly white state, Wol faced adversity and discrimination, but he persevered, embracing his South Sudanese heritage and developing a deep pride in his identity.
Southside Sudo embodies this mission. Through its clothing and the messages it conveys, the brand inspires confidence, resilience, and cultural pride.
